We’re pleased to announce the publication of a new peer-reviewed article titled “Medical Cannabis and Polysubstance Use Protocols in the PhenX Toolkit” by A. Buu et al. (2025). This study addresses a key challenge in substance-use science by expanding the PhenX Toolkit — a publicly accessible repository of standardized measurement protocols widely used in epidemiology and clinical research — to include 15 rigorously developed protocols specifically focused on medical cannabis and polysubstance use. These standardized measures help scientists collect consistent, high-quality data on patterns of cannabis use, co-use with other substances, and related behaviors, supporting stronger comparison across studies and enhancing the ability to synthesize research findings internationally.
